Alternative Press Spring Tour '10 [May 5th, 2010 - Toronto]

Venue: Kool Haus

Openers: The Summer Set
                Every Avenue
                Hey Monday

Headliners: The Cab
                   Never Shout Never

The AP Tour 2010, first of all, I have never attended an AP tour and had no idea what to expect.. but boy what I got was definitely not what i was expecting.. I was pretty much the oldest one in the crowd, and it was filled with rowdy tweens, dressed in homemade shirts with peace& love written all over it and had feathers in their hair.. I didn't realize how many tweens read AP magazine.. or maybe they just saw the date on Christofer Drew's website.. I'm not too sure, but either way the crowd was interesting.. I have never experienced a show where I had a bunch of girls either being rude and pushing WITH hair pulling, AND the ones who complained people were way to close to them and that we had to give them space.. normally it is just one or the other.
With that being said,  The Summer Set was up first. It was my first time seeing them and they were very energetic! They covered a T Swift song and they sounded pretty good, in the past I have experienced openers who have sounded bad and had made me question how did they even get onto the tour! But then again, AP tour is about the fans picking the line up, and I havent heard of the bands themselves being bad performers on this tour.
Up next we had Every Avenue. It was my 2nd time seeing these boys, but this time I was a little disappointed. During the set Dave's mic was messed up, and kept cutting out on him and the sound was horrible! (I'm assuming it was just a tech problem, because the first time I saw them it was amazing.) Dave jumped into the crowd in the middle of the show and walked through while performing, which I thought was pretty cool. The set they played was a good mix of old and new songs, and pretty much showed how their style has changed from the first and second record. One thing I def did not see coming was the fact that they had a REALLY rough crowd. There was a lot of pushing, jumping ontop of other people and a circle pit went down. My friend fell during the set with a bunch of other kids due to the pushing and got trampled as a lot of kids decided that it was ok to run ontop of others to get a closer spot. Never in my life had I ever experience such a rowdy crowd. Most of the time when someone fell, people would help them up.. but not with this bunch!
There is not much to say about Hey Monday , apart from the fact that Cassadee's high energy and enthusiasm really can get the crowd going, even if you don't like their music! With that said, I'm going to move onto The Cab. This was my first time seeing them, but boy Singer is amazing at what he does! When hes on stage you  can see how into the music he gets and the vibe he gives off is pretty much like a drug!
Finally, we have Never Shout Never. The one that most of these girls came out to see. It was my first time seeing him, and to be quite honest I wasn't a big fan when I heard his music.. To me it sounds so typical. Something any guy with a guitar can do, but with that said I decided to give Christofer Drew a shot, as sometimes an artists true beauty shows best when in their element; and in his case it's the performance. With that being said, I gave him one chance to impress me; and he miserably failed. A lot of his songs were slow, and honestly started to put me to sleep.. It wasn't until near the end he that he played a really upbeat and happy song called "I Love You 5" . But apart from that I felt unimpressed and he just seems like the generic guy that follows what's in to make it and not follow his heart. And to top it off it looked like he killed a racoon on his head with all of his animal hats. With all of this being said I think this was my first and last time seeing Never Shout Never live...

Side Notes:
    * Follow @APTour on twitter to get updates, contests and find out how you can get meet and greets with the bands!
    * Every night a different band did the signings at the merch booth
    * Rowdy crowds seem to be something consistant at these shows. I didn't believe it until I experienced it.
    * The  backdrop wasn;t creative and stayed the same throughout the whole set.
    * I love the mag but not the tour, I think this might be my last time attending one of these shows.

Too Fast For Love Tour Feat Cobra Starship & 3OH!3 [Tues. May 4th, 2010]

Openers : I Fight Dragons
                Travie Mc Coy

Rating :5 Fangs out of 5 !

Notes On The Openers:
     * I Fight Dragons uses "chiptunes" meaning that they create music by using old videogame soundcards; mainly from gameboys and NES
     * Travie is the lead singer for Gym Class Heroes, this is his side project and is signed by T-Pain's record label.

Ok, so this was a Co-Headliner tour, which meant that 3OH!3 and Cobra switches who plays last every night, giving them the same amount of stage time. For the Toronto date, Cobra was last and in this case I was glad that they were because it gave Gabe more time to ramble on about differnt things, which I tend to enjoy. :P

3OH!3 was up first, by far i have never experienced a set like theirs, yeah I have seen bands who have had neat stage props, but by far these guys had the neatest ones I have ever seen.. What's grey, green, huge and growling?! .. if you haven't guessed it's LASER WOLVES!! haha it was pretty neat to see them drag it out, they even named them! :P Not only did they have the kick ass wolves but the back drop shows how patriotic these guys are ! It was pretty much an American Flag, 3OH!3 style! The stripes were made up of 3OH!3 written in red & white to make up the stripes, and where the stars were supposed to be, they had the 3OH!3 gang sign! (also their name comes from the area code of where they are from in Colorado). There was loads of energy bursting from this crowd, the only other time i had experienced a crowd like this was when I saw Down With Webster earlier this year. The crowd was constantly jumping, clapping & singing along  with little room to move around if any! I came out of that pit literally drenched in sweat, and i could hardly breathe in the pit, but it was defiantly worth it! This was the first time I was seeing them play a full set ( I have only seen them at Warped Tour, when they had only a 5 song set) so it was pretty cool see how they put on a headliner! They also played 2 of their new songs which drops June 28th. They played My First Kiss ft Ke$ha , and House Party. It was nice to see how many people were singing along to My First Kiss, as it was just released the day before (:

Up next we had Cobra Starship! this was my 4th time seeing these guys live, and they always put on a high energy show. Not much to say about the actual set.. I think after seeing them so many times it has pretty much been the same, they play a good mix of new and old songs , meanwhile Gabe fills the rest of the time with his ramblings (which i love, haha he's such a joker) . This show just happened to be on Nate's birthday (the drummer) and they were all drinking on stage after we sang him Happy Birthday. This set was pretty neat, as not only did we get to help Nate celebrate his birthday, but Tyler Armes from Down With Webster came up on stage and played the Maracas with Cobra, as they were in town too. On a side note I was a little disappointed that Travie left to get tattooed right after his set, leaving Cobra to only play half of Kiss My Sass (cutting out travie's part) AND during Snakes On a Plane. But the nice thing was, that Gabe allowed 2 girls from the crowd to come up and do Travie's rap in the song, while he video taped them with one of the girls cameras. Def props to them for having the courage to go up and do that! even after being a long time Cobra fan, I don't think i would have had the rap down, and probably would have been too scared to even let a word out.

All in all, if you wanna have a good time and this tour is coming to a city near you i suggest you check it out!  here's some tips for the tour! :

* If you have twitter follow @toofasttour It;s run by Baby Booz, one of 3OH!3 's roadies, he updates the twitter and hides a pair of tickets at the venue everyday! making it easier for fans who cant afford the tickets to get in!
*MEET AND GREET WITH 3OH!3 !! : Around 2 hours before the show, Baby Booz will be wandering around the line looking for people decked out in gold!! he's the key ticket into getting into a 3oh3 meet and greet! :)
